Kamuli district LCV chairperson, Maxwell Kuwembula Mugude has perished in an accident, this website has learnt.
Mugude is said to have died in an accident in Nakifuma as he drove to NRM electoral commission headquarters in Kampala to pick nomination papers.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango confirmed the accident.
“A fatal accident occurred today, June 12, 2025, at around 4:40 am in Nakifuma, involving two motor vehicles, UBR 835K and a Pajero UG 699M . The accident claimed the life of Kuwebula Maxwell, the LC 5 chairperson of Kamuli District,” Onyango said.
He added that the Police at Naggalama is currently on the ground investigating the incident.
“Further details will be shared once available,” Onyango said.
The accident came just hours after the Ministry of Works and Transport suspended the automatic traffic fines after a backlash by members of the public who termed them as being harsh.
