In the lead-up to their much-anticipated 50th anniversary concert, Uganda’s legendary Afrigo Band has announced a strategic partnership with CFAO Mobility Uganda, one of the country’s leading automotive brands.
The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by the band to the CFAO Mobility showroom in the Industrial Area, Kampala.
The collaboration positions CFAO Mobility as the official mobility partner for the Afrigo at 50 concert scheduled for August 16, 2025, at Lugogo Grounds. The partnership, according to both parties, is founded on shared values of resilience, reliability, and enduring excellence.
Afrigo Band’s Executive Director James Wasula and veteran band member Herman Ssewanyana were welcomed by the CFAO team and taken on a guided tour of the expansive facility. They visited departments such as vehicle sales, Yamaha motorcycle sales, the service centre, aftersales support, and the customer lounge.
During the visit, both Wasula and Ssewanyana expressed admiration for CFAO’s commitment to quality and customer care, drawing parallels between Toyota’s renowned durability and the band’s own five-decade legacy of musical excellence.
Patricia Tusuubira, CFAO Mobility’s Marketing and Events Coordinator, said the partnership goes beyond brand alignment—it’s about celebrating icons.
“We are amazed that the Afrigo Band has been able to stay together for 50 years. Just like Toyota parts and vehicles are known for their durability and reliability, Afrigo Band’s journey reflects that same strength. This partnership is symbolic of consistency, endurance, and the impact both brands have had over time,” Tusuubira said.
Speaking on behalf of the band, James Wasula noted that surviving and thriving for 50 years in Uganda’s music industry is no small feat.
“We are very happy and excited to celebrate 50 years of existence. These years have come with their share of challenges, but we thank God and our loyal fans. Partnering with CFAO Mobility is humbling—it means we are recognised as a brand worth associating with,” Wasula said.
He added that all partners involved in the celebration will benefit from unprecedented visibility and goodwill during the concert. “This concert is going to be big. Getting support from a corporate brand like CFAO means a lot, and we assure you that your trust in us is well placed,” he noted.
Talent Africa’s Aisha Nansamba, representing the concert organisers, described the upcoming event as “historic not just for Uganda, but for the continent.”
“Very few bands globally can boast of 50 years of staying together, creating timeless music, and influencing culture. Afrigo’s journey deserves every spotlight,” she said.
As part of its celebration, CFAO Mobility Uganda also announced a special ticket giveaway promotion. Customers who purchase CFAO spare parts worth shs300,000 or more will receive free tickets to the Afrigo at 50 concert.
Afrigo Band, founded in 1975 after evolving from the Cranes Band, has long held the mantle as Uganda’s most iconic live band. With hits spanning generations and an unmatched stage presence, their music continues to inspire and connect fans across age groups.
Veteran percussionist Herman Ssewanyana shared the band’s secret to longevity: “Accepting leadership, respecting suggestions, and working as a team. That’s how we’ve stayed together this long.”
The Afrigo at 50 concert promises to be a landmark cultural event, uniting music, business, and national pride in one unforgettable celebration.
