The Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), Nyombi Thembo,on Monday held high-level discussions with the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, aimed at strengthening security around the country’s communications infrastructure.
The meeting, which took place at the Special Forces Command (SFC) headquarters in Entebbe, brought together a team of UCC technical experts and top security officials.
It focused on operational strategies to safeguard Uganda’s rapidly expanding communications sector against emerging threats.
Nyombi and his delegation briefed Gen. Muhoozi, who also serves as Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations, on UCC’s ongoing initiatives and potential areas of collaboration with the security forces.
Discussions touched on telecommunications, broadcasting, data networks, and infrastructure resilience.
The delegation was composed of specialists from UCC’s technical departments, underscoring the commission’s broad mandate as Uganda’s integrated regulator for postal services, telecommunications, radio communications, data transmission, and the licensing of cinematography operations.
Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to work closely in ensuring that Ugandans enjoy secure, reliable, and modern communication services in line with national development and security priorities.
