Police have said they suspect the shooting of four Mbale cattle traders by unknown assailants in Amudat was as a result of a deal that went wrong.
Unknown assailants sprayed a Toyota Harrier registration number UBP 601Q with bullets that killed four cattle traders from Mbale.
The deceased include Umaru Binyota, 34 ,Umaru Walime, 40, Aramathan Boy, 25 and Abasi Mubajje, 28 , all residents of Mbale City who were killed at Akonguyo village in Amudat district.
A video circulating on social media captured the aftermath of the attack in which all victims were shot near the parked car.
Three bodies were captured on the ground whereas one was inside the vehicle and it is suspected the group was going to buy cattle in Karamoja.
Addressing journalists on Monday, Police spokesperson said they picked four phones from the scene which he said will aid them in the ongoing investigations.
He said when a police sniffer dog was introduced, it followed tracks for one kilometre and they disappeared.
“13 cartridges were recovered from the scene of this violent incident. It appears that it could have been a business gone wrong because we picked documents show it was a business mission and there were cash calculations and note books,” Enanga said.
He said investigations into the violent shooting continue as the manhunt for the assailants behind the this act has also kicked off.
