Police in Nateete have launched a full-scale investigation into the gruesome killing of a three-year-old girl who went missing in Kitebi Zone, Mutundwe Parish, Rubaga Division.
The victim, Bulilian Nambeja, disappeared on Monday December 8, 2025, at around 1 pm while with her mother, Olivia Nakanjala, a hairdresser operating at Kitebi–Star. The family resides in Bunamwaya–Ngobe Zone, Mutundwe Parish in Makindye Ssabagabo.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the disappearance was reported immediately, prompting a swift search.
“A case of disappearance was registered at Nateete Police Division, and our teams began search efforts without delay,” SP Kawala said.
Tragically, the search ended in horror. On December 9, 2025, the child’s lifeless body was discovered dumped in a room inside an abandoned building that once operated as a school. The grim discovery was made by a firewood seller who works near the deserted premises.
Police responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary assessment.
“Our initial findings indicate that the deceased was first defiled and later killed,” SP Kawala confirmed.
“The body was conveyed to Mulago Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.”
The murder has sparked outrage and fear in the community, with residents questioning how a toddler could be taken, assaulted, and killed in broad daylight.
SP Kawala said a hunt for the perpetrator(s) is underway.
“Efforts are ongoing to identify, arrest, and bring the suspect or suspects to book,” she noted.
Police are also urging heightened vigilance among parents and guardians.
“We appeal to parents and guardians to remain vigilant and exercise extra caution to ensure the safety of their children,” SP Kawala added.
Investigations continue as detectives piece together clues surrounding one of the most chilling child murders reported in the area in recent years.
