Police in Nateete have arrested seven men suspected of posing as customers to rob motorcycle riders in several Kampala suburbs, recovering two stolen motorcycles during the operation.
The operation, carried out on 11 December 2025, targeted areas that have recently experienced a surge in motorcycle robberies, including Lungujja, Kosovo, Mutundwe, and Nakawuka Road.
The suspects have been identified as Mwesigwa Denis, Washington Erias, Samuel Niwugu, Derick Nasasira, Medy, Mbabali, and Sam Nsereko.
Police recovered two motorcycles with registration numbers UEW 612H and UMA 471AG, along with other items believed to have been used in the attacks.
According to SP Racheal Kawala, the spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects deliberately posed as customers before attacking motorcycle riders.
“Preliminary findings show that the suspects posed as customers with the intention of robbing motorcycle riders of their motorcycles,” SP Kawala said.
She added that the suspects are currently being held at Lungujja and Wakaliga Police Stations, and a case of aggravated robbery has been opened as investigations continue.
SP Kawala further noted that police operations will be intensified across Kampala, particularly as the festive season approaches, to curb criminal activity and ensure public safety.
“Our operations will continue, especially as we enter the festive season, in a bid to combat crime and keep the public safe,” she said.
