The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has ordered the release of Maj Gen Don Nabasa after two months detention.
The released followed an amicable meeting with the Chief of Defence Forces where charges against him were dropped.
Gen Muhoozi announced the development on Thursday afternoon.
“I’m glad to announce after a long meeting with Maj.General Don Nabasa today I have decided to release him and drop all the charges he was facing,” Gen Muhoozi posted on social media.
“ I thank him for the good work he has done in our mighty military since he joined in 1998”
Maj Gen Nabasa, who was then serving as the Joint Staff for Policy and Strategy was arrested in March as Gen Muhoozi cracked the whip against corruption in the UPDF.
He was arrested alongside Brig Johnson Namanya who has also since been released and charges dropped.
Since assuming office as the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi has has initiated a series of actions aimed at addressing corruption and alleged abuse of office within the UPDF, resulting in multiple high-profile arrests of military personnel.
