Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire has warned kingdom subjects against exposing the institution’s internal disagreements on social media, urging them to protect the dignity of the kingdom and rally behind the new King.

Rwomiire made the call in a statement in which he urged the people of Tooro to exercise restraint, avoid heated narratives and refrain from sharing content that could embarrass the kingdom.

“ABANTU BATOORO, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TWASWARA!” Rwomiire said, calling on subjects to reflect on the kind of Tooro they want to build.

He cautioned against actions that could undermine the institution, comparing them to throwing away a baby with dirty water.

“You cannot say you love the baby and then throw it away with the dirty water. Right now, we are doing exactly that, dragging the Tooro we claim to love down the drain,” he said.

The Premier reminded Tooro subjects that the kingdom’s traditions promote dignity, restraint and respect, urging them to uphold the values that have guided the institution for generations.

“We are a proud people with norms and traditions that teach us dignity, restraint and respect. Baragirakiki reminds us that even in difficult times, we can conduct ourselves with discipline and decorum,” he said.

Rwomiire acknowledged that the kingdom was falling short of these expectations, urging subjects to take responsibility for their conduct.

“Let us self-regulate. Share less of what embarrasses the institution. Resist heated narratives. Comment less, listen more and lower the temperature,” he said.

He further appealed to subjects to stop treating one another as opposing sides, stressing that the kingdom’s unity should take precedence over internal disagreements.

“We are not opposing teams. There is only one team: Team Tooro,” he said.

The Premier also warned against allowing social media popularity and personal divisions to undermine the kingdom’s culture and traditions.

“Let us never sacrifice our culture, values and customs at the altar of social media likes and petty divisions. Our disagreements must never become greater than our love for Tooro,” he said.

Rwomiire urged the people of Tooro to focus on the future and ensure that the current period is remembered for wisdom and restraint rather than conflict.

“Let history remember us not for the noise we made, but for the wisdom we showed when Tooro needed us most,” he said.

He called on subjects to rally behind the new King and unite around the upcoming Kujumura Empango ceremony scheduled for September 29, saying all efforts should be directed towards making the event successful.

“And right now, the call is clear: let us rally behind our new King and unite around Kujumura Empango on 29th September,” he said.

Rwomiire also urged kingdom subjects to stop speculating about positions and titles, saying such decisions rested with the new King.

“His Majesty the King will make those decisions, in his wisdom and at the appropriate time. Let us give him that space and respect the Crown,” he said.
