Kyaggwe will face five-time champions Gomba in the 2026 Airtel Masaza Cup final after both sides secured narrow victories in their respective semi-final return legs.
Kyaggwe booked their place in the final with a 1-0 victory over Bugerere at Ntenjeru Stadium, sparking celebrations among a huge crowd that turned up to back the Bakunja Warriors.
The result was enough to send Kyaggwe through after the first leg ended goalless, giving them a 1-0 aggregate victory.
Gomba, meanwhile, secured their place after edging Butambala 1-0 in the second leg to complete a 3-0 aggregate triumph. The record five-time champions had won the first leg 2-0.
The final is scheduled for 31 October 2026 at Muteesa II Memorial Stadium, Wankulukuku, where the two sides will battle for the coveted Masaza Cup crown.
Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II is expected to close this year’s Masaza edition.
The final presents Kyaggwe with another opportunity to win their maiden Masaza Cup title after falling short in their previous final appearance.
The Bakunja Warriors reached the final in 2024 but lost to Buddu at Namboole, leaving them still searching for their first championship.
Their run to this year’s final has, however, been characterised by strong performances and growing support, with Kyaggwe attracting significant crowds throughout the tournament.
The 1-0 victory over Bugerere at Ntenjeru was another example of their ability to deliver under pressure as they secured their second-ever appearance in the final.
For Gomba, the Wankulukuku final will be another chance to underline their status as one of the most successful sides in Masaza Cup history.
The five-time champions will be appearing in their 11th final and will be targeting a sixth title.
Their route to the final has been convincing, with Gomba beating Butambala 2-0 in the first leg before completing the job with another victory in the return leg.
The final will therefore bring together a Kyaggwe side chasing its first crown and an experienced Gomba outfit seeking to add another trophy to its collection.
Both teams have enjoyed impressive campaigns and built strong support throughout the tournament, setting the stage for what promises to be an entertaining final at Wankulukuku.
