Three people have been confirmed dead and two others injured after a truck loaded with palm oil overturned and fell on a Toyota Premio in Kabwohe, Sheema District.
The fatal crash occurred in the night of Tuesday.
Police said emergency responders were working to remove the truck to gain access to the vehicle and establish whether there were additional casualties.
SP Michael Kananura, the Community Liaison Officer and Traffic and Road Safety PRO, said preliminary information indicated that the truck was involved in the crash and had trapped the Premio underneath it.
“Three people have been confirmed dead and two others injured in a fatal road crash registered in Kabwohe, Sheema District,” Kananura said.
“Efforts are underway to remove the truck using an excavator to enable Police and other emergency responders to access the Premio and establish whether there are any additional casualties,” Kananura added.
Kananura said more details would be provided after the recovery operation and a full assessment of the crash scene.
The cause of the crash had not yet been established by the time of reporting.
By press time, police was still trying to rescue victims who were atill trapped in a Toyota premio.
