Police in Kampala have started a manhunt for a soldier attached to the Special Forces Command who shot one person dead and injured two others dead in a bar brawl in Kajjansi.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire the incident happened at around 11pm at Kinyarwanda village, Kajjansi town council in Wakiso District.
“It’s alleged that at the marua(Ajon) bar of one Mama Angel , one Odongo Johnson aka Chemoges, a UPDF officer attached to SFC picked up a misunderstanding with now the deceased Omani George over payment of the local brew,” Owoyesigyire said.
He said following the misunderstanding, Omani relocated to another bar belonging to one Nakimuli Rebecca.
“Odongo later returned to his beat where he guarded one of the residences in Akright Estate where he picked up his weapon followed Omani and shot him several bullets killing him instantly then injured other two.”
He said a file has been opened under CRB 1291/2023 of Kajjansi police station and the investigations immediately commenced.
“The body of Omani was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem whereas the injured were take to Mulago for treatment.”
