President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is today, Tuesday, April 15th, kicking off his tour of the Greater Mubende sub-region as part of his ongoing nationwide assessment of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other wealth creation programs.
The President, through a message posted Monday evening on his official X account, confirmed his plans to spend the week in the area.
“Fellow Ugandans, especially the Bazzukulu. This week, I will spend time with the people of Greater Mubende as we assess the PDM in that area,” he said.
Greater Mubende, a region deeply connected to Uganda’s liberation history being the site of the 1981 attack on Kabamba barracks that marked the start of Museveni’s armed struggle includes the districts of Mityana, Mubende, Kiboga, Kyankwanzi, and Kassanda, along with the municipalities of Mityana and Mubende.
According to Hajj Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Secretary of the Presidential Press Unit, Museveni is expected to begin his engagements by visiting selected model farmers in Mityana and Kyankwanzi Districts on Tuesday.
The itinerary continues on Wednesday, April 16th, with the official launch of the Mubende Industrial Hub located in Kibuye-Vunga village, Bugonzi Parish, Kitenga Sub-county in Buwekula County, Mubende District.
The President will also preside over a key meeting of Parish Model leaders at Mirembe Maria Gardens in Kasanda District the same day.
The tour will conclude on Thursday with the commissioning of completed USMID road infrastructure in Mubende Municipality, followed by a grand rally at Saza Playground in Kiwanguzi, Kiboga District, where Museveni is expected to address residents on government strategies for accelerating rural development.
The President’s tour comes at a time when the government is intensifying efforts to fulfill its commitment to rural transformation, leveraging initiatives such as Operation Wealth Creation and the PDM to uplift household incomes.
After Mubende, Museveni will continue his PDM review in the Rwenzori region before concluding the tour in Central Buganda.
So far, his countrywide assessment has covered key regions including Acholi, Lango, Teso, Karamoja, Bugisu, Busoga, Bukedi, Kigezi, Ankole, Bunyoro, and West Nile. He has pledged increased funding for the wealth creation agenda based on the findings from these engagements.
