In a targeted operation conducted on Wednesday, Uganda’s Immigration Enforcement Team apprehended 22 irregular immigrants in a sweep across Old Kampala, Bakuli, Rubaga Road, and Namirembe Road.
The operation, aimed at enforcing compliance with immigration regulations, saw individuals from multiple nationalities detained for being in the country without proper documentation.
Among those apprehended are six Chinese nationals, four Indians, two Pakistanis, three Eritreans, four Somalis, one Egyptian, one Libyan, and one Afghan.
According to Immigration Uganda, the operation also verified the immigration status of 113 foreign nationals, all of whom were found to be in compliance with existing laws.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to enforcing Uganda’s immigration laws and urged all foreign nationals living or working in the country to ensure they regularize their stay through the official immigration portal: visas.immigration.go.ug.
According to Immigrants, Investigations are ongoing, and those found in violation may face deportation or other legal consequences as provided by Ugandan law.
The public has been encouraged to report suspected cases of irregular immigration to help maintain national security and lawful residency standards.
