The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has graduated 55 soldiers from its Joint Services Headquarters Brigade Group (JS HQ BDE GP) after successfully completing a rigorous six-month Level Three Regiment Course in Communication, Information Technology, and Signals (CITS).
The pass-out ceremony took place at the Land Force Headquarters in Bombo and was officiated by Brigadier General Jimmy Musoke, Deputy Camp Commandant of the JS HQ BDE GP, who represented the Camp Commandant.
Brig Gen Musoke praised the graduates for their dedication and strong performance during the training.
He also acknowledged the instructors and CITS staff, as well as UPDF leadership, for their commitment and for providing modern training equipment and technical support throughout the course.
In his remarks, Brig Gen Musoke highlighted the critical role of signals in military operations, describing the department as the backbone of command and control in the UPDF.
“The military signal department is highly sensitive. It anchors all command, control and administration of the UPDF. You must therefore remain loyal, trustworthy, educated and highly disciplined,” he advised the newly trained personnel.
The Level Three Course, Intake 11/2025, drew participants from across several UPDF units, including the JS HQ BDE GP, the Special Forces Command (SFC), and the Mountain Division, according to Lieutenant Kawawa Asiku, Second-in-Command of the 10 CITS Regiment.
Top-performing trainees were recognized for excellence in various categories: Best Overall Student: Corporal Mulabbi Misairi, best Overall Female: Private Ajalo Juleth, best in Practical Exercises: Private Mukisa Umar, best in Leadership: Corporal Sulait Mubaraka and most Disciplined Student: Lance Corporal Matama Sumini
The graduation was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Colonel John Katama Siyareta, Director of Operations at Land Force; Lieutenant Colonel Bernard Okol, Commandant of the School of CITS; Lieutenant Colonel Apollo Heavenfall, Director of CITS Land Force; along with commanding officers from various signal regiments.
This latest cohort adds to the UPDF’s growing pool of highly skilled signal and IT personnel, enhancing the military’s operational capacity in modern warfare and communication.
