Entebbe International Airport has posted its busiest month on record, with 230,577 passengers passing through in July 2025, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has confirmed.
Spokesperson Vianney Luggya described the milestone as the highest monthly traffic the airport has ever recorded.
The breakdown shows 119,127 arrivals compared to 111,450 departures, averaging 7,437 travellers daily. This figure surpasses the previous record of 222,301 passengers set in December 2024.
Luggya explained that the increase was driven by several overlapping factors including the influx of official delegations attending the CHAN 2024 tournament contributed to the passenger surge, Tourism promotion campaigns and international conferences held in Uganda also added to the numbers and Improved airline connectivity made it easier for more travellers to choose Entebbe as their gateway.
The airport also handled 5,863 metric tonnes of cargo during July. Of this, 3,961 tonnes were exports while 1,902 tonnes were imports.
The new record cements Entebbe International Airport’s role as a growing hub for regional air travel and trade, with analysts pointing to continued growth as Uganda strengthens its tourism and business appeal.
