The Minister for State for Chidren and Youth, Balaam Barugahara has condoled with the family of one of the employees of his events company who drowned in River Nile on Saturday.
Yusuf Musasizi died on Saturday after crossing the river using Obongi ferry from Moyo to Sinyanya landing site in Adjumani district and while the group relaxed to wait for the remaining members, the deceased went to swim and consequently drowned.
In a statement on his X, Balaam expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended gratitude to the first responders who tried to save Yusuf’s life.
He also thanked the Uganda Police Force and lifesavers from Obongi for their efforts in recovering the body.
He said the deceased’s remains were handed over to his family on saturday evening and he will be laid to rest in his ancestral village of Walugogo in Luuka District.
“In honour of our colleague, we have suspended all mobilisation activities for today. We will resume on Monday in Amuru, Lamwo, Omoro, and other scheduled areas,” Balaam announced.
Balaam prayed for comfort for Yusuf’s family, workmates, and friends, saying, “May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
