Britam Uganda has strengthened its position as one of Africa’s most competitive employers after securing the Top Employer Africa 2026 certification for the second consecutive year.

The recognition, awarded by the Top Employers Institute (TEI) following successful recertification across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Mozambique, places Britam among a select group of organisations setting the benchmark for employee value proposition, talent development, and workplace standards in Africa’s increasingly competitive labour market.

As competition for skilled professionals intensifies within the financial services sector, the certification underscores Britam’s ability to attract, engage, and retain talent by offering meaningful career experiences, inclusive workplaces, and long-term growth opportunities.

The accolade reflects the company’s deliberate focus on employee development, wellbeing, and engagement—areas now widely regarded as critical differentiators for employers operating across multiple markets.

Through initiatives such as Life@Britam, leadership and personal development programmes including She Thrives, ManCave, Women in Leadership, and Men of Purpose, as well as comprehensive support through the Employee Assistance Programme, Britam continues to strengthen its appeal as an employer of choice.

Commenting on the achievement, Britam Uganda Chief Executive Officer, Allan Mafabi, said the recognition reinforces the link between people investment and customer value.

“In Uganda, our focus remains on building capable teams that drive growth, service excellence, and long-term impact in the market,” Mafabi said.

At the regional level, Britam Group Managing Director and CEO, Tom Gitogo, credited the organisation’s workforce—known internally as the Blue Tribe—for sustaining high people standards across borders.

“This recognition reflects the strength of our culture and the commitment of our people across the region. Britam’s success is anchored in the passion, innovation, and shared values of the Blue Tribe. Being recognised again as a Top Employer in Africa across four countries reinforces our resolve to continuously invest in our people as we build a resilient, future-ready organisation,” Gitogo said.

According to Britam HR Director, Evelyne Munyoki, the certification reflects steady progress in aligning people practices with evolving employee expectations across diverse markets.

“The forward momentum created by being certified as a Top Employer Africa 2026 signals that our people practices are evolving in the right direction. It reflects the intentional work we continue to do to strengthen inclusion, support wellbeing, and create environments where our people can perform, grow, and feel a sense of belonging across all our markets,” Munyoki noted.

Top Employers Institute CEO, Adrian Seligman, described Britam’s regional certification as evidence of maturity in people management and strategic execution.

“Being recognised as a Regional Top Employer for 2026 is a significant achievement that reflects the strength and consistency of Britam’s people strategy across multiple countries. Britam’s ability to scale strategy while remaining responsive to diverse markets demonstrates strong leadership alignment, organisational discipline, and a mature approach to leveraging insights and benchmarking to drive business performance across borders,” Seligman said.

In Uganda, Britam ranked first among four certified companies, reinforcing its standing as a preferred employer within the country’s financial and insurance sector.

Globally, the Top Employers Institute certified more than 2,400 organisations across 125 countries and regions in 2026, impacting the working lives of over 13 million employees worldwide.

As the future of work continues to evolve, Britam’s Top Employer Africa 2026 certification positions the company as a competitive destination for talent seeking purpose-driven careers, professional growth, and inclusive workplace environments across Africa.
