Africa’s innovative smartphone leader, Tecno Mobile, has officially launched the Camon 50 series on the Ugandan market, unveiling two new devices: the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro. The launch event was held at Skyz Hotel in Naguru.
The Camon 50 series marks the first entries in Tecno’s Camon 50 lineup and succeeds the Camon 40. Both devices are 4G models powered by MediaTek processors and come equipped with Tecno’s AI suite to enhance photography and social media experiences.
Both variants feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1,208 x 2,644-pixel resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. While the Camon 50 has a flat screen, the Pro model boasts a slightly curved display. Both devices include a One-Tap AI key, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos, and ingress protection with IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.
Under the hood, the phones run on the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
Powering both models is a 6,500mAh battery supporting 45W wired fast charging. On the software side, they run HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and include features such as a “one-tap” transfer function compatible with iPhones.
Camera Systems:
The standard Camon 50 comes with a dual-camera setup: a 50MP main sensor with a 1/1.56-inch size and optical image stabilization (OIS), paired with an 8MP ultrawide lens. The Pro variant adds a third 50MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom. Both devices feature a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The Camon 50 is available in Moonshadow Black, Malachite Green, Nebula Titanium, Fir Green, Lavender Mist, and Cream Mint. The Camon 50 Pro shares the same colors, except Cream Mint, which is replaced by Ethereal Blue.
Officials emphasized that the series combines durability, high performance, and AI-enhanced photography, making it ideal for content creators and social media enthusiasts in Uganda.
