Police in the Albertine region have arrested two prime suspects in connection with the murder of a 38-year-old woman in Kakumiro District.
The suspects have been identified as Jordan Kibuka, 25, and Semata, also known as Kidewalime, 23.
They are accused of attacking and killing Namulindwa Victoria, a resident of Rwensera B Cell in Kakumiro District.
According to the Albertine Regional Police Spokesperson, Julius Hakiza, the incident happened on February 27, 2026, when the suspects allegedly attacked the woman at her home while armed with heavy sticks.
Hakiza said the attackers violently assaulted Namulindwa and also injured three of her children together with their maid during the attack.
“On February 27, 2026, Namulindwa Victoria was violently attacked at her home by the suspects who were armed with heavy sticks. During the attack, three of her children and their maid were also seriously injured,” Hakiza said.
All the victims were rushed to Mubende Hospital for treatment. However, Namulindwa later succumbed to the injuries she sustained during the assault.
“The other victims are currently receiving medical care and are reported to be in stable condition and expected to recover,” Hakiza added.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects had been targeting homes within Kakumiro District with the intention of committing robberies, using heavy sticks as their weapon of choice.
Police believe the attack on Namulindwa’s home was premeditated and that the suspects could be linked to other similar criminal incidents in the area.
Hakiza said investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of their criminal activities and to ensure safety in the district.
“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station. Community cooperation remains vital in the fight against crime,” he said.
Police have assured residents that efforts are underway to ensure all those responsible are brought to justice.
