The prime suspect in last week’s horrific attack at a daycare centre in Makindye Division has been charged with murder and remanded to Luzira Government Prison.
Christopher Okello Onyum, 34, appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrates Court on Monday, facing four counts of murder contrary to Sections 171 and 172 of the Penal Code Act.
According to the prosecution, on April 2, 2026, at Ggaba Childhood Development Centre, Onyum, with malice aforethought, allegedly caused the deaths of Ignatius Sseruyange, Ryan Odeke, Keisha Ogenorwoth Otim, and Gideon Oteku.
The accused was not required to enter a plea, as the case is only triable by the High Court. The state prosecutor informed the court that investigations are ongoing.
The trial magistrate Aidah Nanjala subsequently remanded Onyum to Luzira Prison until tomorrow for mention of the charges.
