President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has granted an official burial to the late Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County, Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda has announced.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Babalanda described the late statesman as “a distinguished patriot, elder statesman, and former Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda.”
“Dear friends, I wish to inform you all that the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Gen. (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has granted an official burial to the fallen Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County, Adjumani District, a distinguished patriot, elder statesman, and former Second Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. (Rtd) Hon. Moses Ali,” Babalanda said.
She revealed that the National Organising Committee (NOC) had already begun meeting with the family to coordinate arrangements for a befitting send-off.
Babalanda also extended her condolences to President Museveni, the bereaved family, the people of Adjumani District, government colleagues, and all Ugandans mourning the veteran leader.
“May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, comfort his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” she said.
Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali served Uganda for decades in various leadership positions, including as a legislator, Cabinet minister, and Second Deputy Prime Minister.
He was widely respected for his long public service, patriotism, and contribution to national unity and development.
He died on Saturday at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
Details of the official burial programme are expected to be announced by the National Organising Committee following consultations with the family.
