Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the theft of an iPhone 11 from a woman during singer King Saha’s concert in Kololo on August 15, 2026.
The arrests followed a video that circulated on social media showing the woman crying after reportedly losing her mobile phone during the concert.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of Kampala Metropolitan Police, intelligence-led investigations led to the arrest of Abud Lubwama, alias Mafia, who allegedly confessed to stealing the phone.
“Lubwama Abud alias Mafia disclosed that he had stolen the iPhone 11 and sold it to Ssentongo Joseph,” Owoyesigyire said.
Police subsequently proceeded to Nateete Central A Zone, where Ssentongo was arrested and the suspected stolen phone recovered.
A pink phone cover, which the victim reportedly had on the phone when it was stolen, was also recovered from Ssentongo’s bag.
Further investigations established that Ssentongo had taken the phone to another suspect, identified as Sserunjogi Kasim, who allegedly helped unlock it at Kalungi Mall so it could be used.
Owoyesigyire said the three suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
Police are also pursuing other individuals believed to have participated in the theft and the subsequent unlocking of the phone.
“We are working to identify and trace the rightful owner of the recovered phone and establish where the original case was reported for further management,” Owoyesigyire said.
The arrests come amid continued police efforts to track down individuals involved in thefts at public concerts and other crowded entertainment events.
