The UPDF has  in a  joint operation with the Congolese army, FARDC killed another  top Allied Democratic Forces(ADF) commander  named ‘Dr’ Musa.

Musa, who also served as the outfit’s medic was killed on Monday by a joint mobile squad under the 83 battalion of the UPDF at Mugulumugulu near Tokomeka, 30km Northwest of Kainama.

“’Dr’ Musa, who is of Rwandan origin at the time of his death, was operating closely with another notorious ADF commander called Muhammad Luminsa. The joint forces recovered one Sub Machine Gun (SMG) and one walkie-talkie,” Maj Bilal Katamba, the public information officer for Operation Shuja said in a statement on Tuesday.

He said Musa was killed by the forces that are currently trying to locate and neutralize remnants of the terrorist outfit that are currently on the run.

“The ADF has intensified the implanting of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). However, the joint forces’ technical explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) teams are handling the IED threats. The joint forces continue to aggressively pursue the ADF remnants in their scattered hideouts in all four sectors of the operation,” Maj Katamba said.

The development comes barely a week after another top ADF commander named ‘Baghdad’ was neutralized in a joint operation by the UPDF and the Congolese forces.

The ADF has since December, 2021 come under heavy fire from the UPDF and the Congolese army inside DRC as part of Operation Shuja.

This came after terror attacks in Kampala left over 10 dead and scores injured during twin blasts targeting the Central Police Station and Parliamentary Avenue.

Several ADF camps have also been destroyed during this period and several other areas liberated from the group’s control in DRC.

Also a number of top ADF commanders and fighters   have been killed during the operation but the whereabouts of the top most commander, Musa Baluku are not known since the operation started two years ago.

Whereas initial reports at the start of the operation indicated he had been killed in one of the air and artillery strikes by the Ugandan army, no further evidence has been provided to prove this.

However, Baluku seems to have gone underground and no information regarding his activities in DRC has surfaced by officials from the Ugandan army say the hunt for him is still on.

Nevertheless, the terrorist outfit has been weakened with its fighters now moving in small groups to avoid detection.
