Prudential Uganda is stepping up efforts to strengthen its professional financial adviser network as Prudential Africa emerges as the leading Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) business in the region.

Prudential’s operations in Nigeria and Ghana have consistently ranked No. 1 in their respective markets and are among the companies featured in MDRT’s 2026 Global Top 100, highlighting the growing performance of the insurer’s adviser network across Africa.

MDRT is an internationally recognised benchmark for professional excellence in life insurance and financial services.

Across Prudential Africa, 275 advisers qualified for MDRT in the first half of 2026, following 662 qualifiers recorded throughout 2025. In Uganda, 41 advisers qualified for MDRT in 2025, contributing to the insurer’s growing professional adviser base.

Emmanuel Mokobi Aryee, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Africa, said the growth reflects increasing demand for financial planning and the opportunity for advisers to play a bigger role in helping families prepare for their financial futures.

“Across Africa, more individuals and families are recognising the importance of planning for their financial future. There is a significant opportunity for our advisers to make a meaningful difference in their communities,” Aryee said.

He added that Africa has become Prudential’s fastest-growing MDRT community globally.

“Africa is Prudential’s fastest-growing MDRT community globally, and we are proud of the progress being made. By continuing to grow our agency force, we are expanding access to quality advice, serving more customers and helping raise professional standards in the industry,” he said.

Prudential said the growth is supported by a structured pathway for advisers, covering recruitment, product and sales training, needs-based advisory coaching, mentorship and digital tools.

The company said the approach is designed to help advisers better understand customers’ financial needs and provide guidance based on individual circumstances.

The development is also supported by Prudential plc’s three-year global partnership with MDRT, launched in 2025, which provides advisers across its markets with access to learning, leadership development, peer networking and industry best practices.

Tetteh Ayitevie, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Uganda, said the company is seeking to improve access to quality financial advice as the country’s life insurance market continues to develop.

“In Uganda, life insurance still has significant room to grow, and quality financial advice is central to changing that. We want our advisers to be trusted professionals who understand the realities Ugandan families face, from educating their children and protecting household income to saving and planning for the future,” Ayitevie said.

He said MDRT provides Ugandan advisers with exposure to international standards and professional development.

“MDRT gives our advisers access to global standards, learning and a culture of excellence. Our investment in training, technology and mentorship is therefore about one thing: helping more Ugandans receive the quality advice they need to make sound long-term financial decisions,” he said.

Prudential’s parent company, Prudential plc, reported an 8% increase in new business profit to US$1.384 billion for the six months ended June 2026, while its new business margin increased by two percentage points to 40%.

Agency business contributed 53% of Prudential’s total new business profit, while new business profit per active agent increased by 9% year-on-year.

In Africa, annual premium equivalent sales also grew at a double-digit rate during the period, with Prudential maintaining top-three positions in several key markets.

Prudential Africa now has 12,000 advisers across Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Ghana and Nigeria, representing a 71% increase over five years. The business serves about 2.6 million customers, up from 1.7 million in 2021.

The company said the expansion of its adviser network is aimed at reaching more customers with professional financial advice while creating career opportunities across its African markets.

The insurer said life insurance penetration outside South Africa remains low, with penetration across Africa estimated at 0.31% and insurance density at about US$5 per person annually, pointing to a significant protection gap.

In Uganda, Prudential said it is responding to this gap through investment in professional standards, technology and adviser capability to make financial protection and long-term financial planning more accessible to individuals and families.
