A senior clinical officer at Kikoni Health Centre IV has been remanded to prison over allegations that he obtained Shs23 million from several people by falsely promising to secure them jobs with Rwampara District Local Government.
Asaph Kamugisha appeared before Ndeija Magistrate’s Court in Rwampara District, where he was charged with two counts of obtaining money by false pretence.
He was remanded until November 3, 2026, as investigations into the alleged job scam continue.
Prosecution alleges that on February 23, 2026, in Kanoni Town, Rwampara District, Kamugisha obtained Shs23 million from several individuals after falsely claiming that he could help them secure employment with the district local government.
His arrest followed complaints raised by members of the public during the national “Expose the Corrupt” campaign held in Rwampara District and spearheaded by the Minister for Local Government, Balaam Barugahara.
The complaints prompted investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, working in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
The investigations led to Kamugisha’s arrest and subsequent appearance in court.
The case highlights concerns about alleged fraud targeting job seekers through promises of employment in the public service.
Kamugisha is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a competent court of law.
