Legendary radio death announcements anchor, Salongo John Ssekandi, also known as Ssalongo John has passed on , this website has learnt.
According to family members, Ssalongo John died in the wee hours of Monday morning.
Buganda owned Central Broadcasting Services(CBS) FM where he worked for a long time confirmed the death.
Born June 24, 1934 in Nabuti, Kyaggwe County to Ssetuba-Kadde Kikomeko and Miriam Nansubuga, Ssalongo John took death announcements to another level, starting out on Radio Uganda, CBS FM and later Super FM owned by Pastor Peter Ssematimba.
In a fast flawless Luganda accent, he dramatically anchored death announcements in the morning, lunch time, evening and night.
Whereas many people loathe death announcements because they remind them of death, yet we are here on earth for life, Ssalongo John mastered the trade so well that people would eagerly await for him to listen to his death announcements.
