The Special Forces Command(SFC) has washed itself clean of a man arrested at National Unity Platform headquarters.
Sulaiman Watuke was allegedly arrested at NUP headquarters under unclear circumstances as he identified himself as a soldier attached to SFC.
However, in a statement on Monday afternoon, SFC spokesperson, Maj Jimmy Omara said they have taken note of a picture making rounds on social media where Watuke was being paraded as a soldier attached to SFC but said he has never been one of them.
“His details are not reflected in our register, and as well in the UPDF records or system,” Maj Omara said.
During his arrest, Watuke was found with an identity card that he said belongs to the Special Forces Command but according to Maj Omara, the said identity card is forged.
He explained that whereas the card has the name of SFC, “it lacks security features that define our cards.”
“It’s forged and lacking in many aspects. It was meant to hoodwink unsuspecting persons.”
The SFC spokesperson said they are soon contacting the National Identification and Registration Authority for further details about the National identity card that was found on him during arrest at NUP headquarters.
“ We have reported a case of impersonation to police and investigation has commenced to that effect,” Maj Omara said.
He also applauded members of the public for being vigilant on such persons.
