Allen Kagina, the Executive Director of the scrapped Uganda National Roads Authority has left the body after serving at its helm for nine years.
Kagina announced the development on her official X handle on Friday.
“Having fully served its purpose, I am retiring the handle @UNRA_ED. It has been a 9 years 8 months fruitful engagement on this platform… adieu,” she posted.
The development comes on the backdrop of the scrapping of UNRA by government and mainstreaming it in the Ministry of Works and Transport.
UNRA has been at the help of developing Uganda’s road network.
Under Kagina, UNRA is credited for among others the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway, Kampala- Northern Bypass, Nile Bridge in Jinja and a number of other road networks that have eased transport around the country.
UNRA was also in charge of several ferries and bridges as it connected the country .
She is also credited for several accomplishments that are continuing to shape Uganda’s infrastructure landscape.
Under Kagina, UNRA is also credited for being efficient, digitizing operations, and implementing performance monitoring frameworks to curb corruption in road construction projects.
