He said standby teams, mobile squads, 999 patrol units and motorcycle squads will be in place to respond to any incidents.

“Our joint intelligence components of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, Internal Security Organisation, Crime Intelligence and ESO are continuing to profile venues, hotspots and individuals which are a security risk. We shall carry out snap checks in various parts of the country.”

“We remain committed to ensuring a very successful festive season,” Enanga said.

Tips

The police also issued several tips to be followed by Ugandans ensure their safety and security during the festive season.

“We encourage members of the public to limit the amount of money they carry for shopping and advise them to do cashless transactions. Don’t go shopping alone but move with someone but also be aware of your surroundings,” Enanga advised.

“Motorists should always park in well-lit areas but also store valuables out of sight to avoid enticing thugs. Before opening the vehicle, first scan around to see there are no strangers following you.”
