A clerk in the Buganda traditional court, locally known as Kisekwa has been arrested by security in connection with the gruesome murder of Ndiga clan head, Daniel Bbosa.
In an operation conducted by operatives from the Crime Intelligence Directorate of Police, Milly Naluwenda was arrested on Thursday night from her shop at Lungujja Kitunzi.
According to eyewitnesses, the arrest which happened at around 9pm saw operative driving a white Toyota Hiace , commonly known as Drone take Naluwenda.
“They came in a drone and parked near the shop. A few of them went inside the shop and many of us thought they were customers. What we heard next was an alarm from Milly that she was being kidnapped,” a boda boda rider who preferred to remain anonymous told this website.
Scuffle
Meanwhile, there was a scuffle as the operatives forced Naluwenda out of the shop.
As the security personnel realized that a gathering was swelling, they fired bullets in the air and later overpowered the suspect and bundled her into the waiting van.
The incident has since created murmurs by locals and other members of the public on social media over what could have prompted the arrest.
However, in a statement on Friday, Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango confirmed Naluwenda had been arrested by the Police Crime Intelligence Directorate to aid in ongoing investigations.
“The arrested individual is held to aid the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Uganda Police Force. We urge members of her family to remain calm as investigations progress,” Onyango said.
This website has separately learnt that Naluwenda was arrested after investigations indicated she could have been a close associate to one of the prime suspects in the Sunday shooting.
It is said that she could have had phone conversations with one of the suspects days to the shooting.
Investigators want to find out the nature of conversations between the two.
