The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and son of President Museveni, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has celebrated the re-election of his father, describing the victory as historic.
In a post on X, Muhoozi expressed gratitude to Ugandans for supporting Museveni in the January 15, 2026, presidential election.
“Tonight I’m in a good mood. I thank Almighty God and all Ugandans for giving Mzee a historic victory on January 15th, 2026,” he wrote.
His message comes amid the official announcement of results by the Electoral Commission, which confirmed President Museveni’s fifth term in office.
Ugandans had expected him to be vocal during the elections, given his previous presence on social media, but Muhoozi remained silent throughout the campaign and only made a surprise return online immediately after his father’s victory.
