The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has endorsed Anita Annet Among and Thomas Tayebwa for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th Parliament.
In a statement dated March 11, 2026, the PLU General Secretary, David Kabanda, said Gen Muhoozi has guided all MPs-elect who are affiliated with PLU to support the two leaders.
Kabanda said the endorsement follows the decision of the Central Executive Committee of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), which also backed Among for Speaker and Tayebwa for Deputy Speaker.
“In the spirit of Tuko Pamoja, the Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has guided that all PLU-leaning Members of Parliament–elect should support Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among and Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa,” Kabanda said.
He added that the PLU leadership is calling on MPs-elect to maintain discipline, dignity and unity during the process of choosing leaders of the 12th Parliament.
Kabanda also congratulated the MPs-elect upon their victory and urged them to promote patriotism, integrity and socio-economic transformation.
Reacting to the endorsement, Anita Annet Among hailed CDF for supporting the decision earlier made by the Central Executive Committee of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“I express my sincere gratitude to my brother, our esteemed Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. @mkainerugaba, for endorsing and agreeing with the decision of the @NRMOnline CEC regarding the House leadership,” she said.
