Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has begun fulfilling his pledge to donate all proceeds from his 52nd birthday run to charities supporting children in need.
Gen. Muhoozi revealed that over Shs 1 billion was raised during the run, which took place on April 26 at Kololo Independence Grounds under the theme, “Run for Charity, Run for Hope.”
On Friday, accompanied by his wife Charlotte, the CDF handed over Shs 100 million to the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation (UCCF) at the SFC headquarters in Entebbe.
During the brief ceremony, staff from the foundation thanked Gen. Muhoozi for the contribution and shared plans to construct a hostel near the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI).
The facility will provide accommodation for children undergoing cancer treatment, sparing them from long and exhausting journeys.
The birthday run attracted a wide range of participants, including government officials, civil society representatives, cultural leaders, politicians, and army officers, all coming together to support the cause and bring hope to the less privileged.
