The head of the opposition National Unity Platform leadership training school, Doreen Kaija has been remanded to prison over participation in unlawful military drills.
Kaija who has been missing since Sunday was on Monday confirmed to have been arrested by police.
On Tuesday afternoon, she arraigned before grade one magistrate, Damalie Agumaasimwe and a charge of participating in unlawful military drills , an offence committed on February 12, 2025 read against her.
She was also accused of starting or engaging in the NUP School of Leadership without a license, which prosecution says contravenes the Education Act as well as conspiracy to commit a crime, linked to the same allegations of unlawful military drills.
Kaija denied all charges.
The trial magistrate remanded her to Luzira prison until September 29, 2025.
She becomes the 10 NUP official or supporter charged over the February 12 drills.
