The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has broken the silence about his whereabout, saying his still alive and recovering well.
“We have spent long without hearing from you while following the doctors’ prescription that asked us to be away from work. We are recuperating well and hope to return home soon,” Kabaka said.
There have been murmurs from a section of Kabaka’s subjects questioning his absence from the public.
The people were used to Kabaka’s public appearance in most of Buganda Kingdom events like the Kabaka’s birthday run, his birthday celebrations , Bika and Masaza Cup finals and opening but this year, this didn’t happen, leading to questions.
Whereas the Katikkiro, Charles Peter Mayiga in a statement said the Kabaka who had flown to Germany for routine medical checkup had been asked to fly to Namibia by his German doctors, those demanding for his appearance never relented.
However, in a recorded video message on Monday afternoon, the Kabaka assured his subjects that he is recovering well from the illness he had.
“I must thank God who has kept us and Buganda for praying for us always and not losing hope in these trying moments. We thank the Katikkiro and ministers for the kingdom work they are doing.”
“We are following closely whatever is going on. We thank the people of Buganda who have followed the norms and culture and as we say, our strength is in unity . We ask our people to stay united. God bless you all.”
