The Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA-Uganda) has officially appointed Hajji Issa Sekitto as the new substantive Acting Chairperson of the association.
The appointment was made during an Extra Ordinary Executive Board Meeting held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the KACITA offices.
According to a statement issued by Acting Secretary General Timothy Baguma the board unanimously agreed to entrust Hajji Sekitto with the role to ensure stable leadership during a key transitional phase for the association.
Sekitto, a respected figure in Uganda’s business circles, will serve in the acting capacity for one year.
During this period, KACITA will be undertaking internal reforms focused on strengthening governance structures and enhancing operational efficiency.
The board also extended deep gratitude to the outgoing Acting Chairperson, Dr. Thadeus Musoke Nagenda, who has stepped down to pursue a political career.
In its statement, KACITA emphasized its non-partisan stance, stating that the leadership change allows Dr. Musoke to fully focus on his political ambitions without affecting the association’s apolitical mandate.
“The Executive Board calls upon all members, partners, and stakeholders to extend their full support and cooperation to Hajji Issa Sekitto as he steers the association through this important phase.”
