Kenyan low-cost carrier Jambojet will resume flights between Nairobi and Entebbe on October 1, 2026, returning to the Ugandan market after suspending its regional operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The daily service is expected to provide additional air travel options between Kenya and Uganda while supporting business travel, tourism and cross-border trade.

One-way fares will start at approximately US$170, according to the airline.

Jambojet Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Karanja Ndegwa said Uganda remains an important market as the airline seeks to expand its regional network.

“Our return to Uganda is a strategic step forward in our mission to strengthen regional connectivity. We see significant opportunities to support business, tourism and trade between Kenya and Uganda while providing travellers with affordable, reliable and convenient flying experience that Jambojet is known for,” Ndegwa said.

He added that the airline’s broader objective was to make air travel more accessible across East Africa while enabling passengers to connect to destinations within its network.

In addition to passenger flights, Jambojet will offer cargo and parcel services on the Nairobi–Entebbe route.

The airline said the additional capacity would support the movement of goods between Uganda and Kenya, strengthening the route’s role in facilitating cross-border commercial activity.

The service is also expected to give Ugandan travellers easier access to Kenya’s coastal destinations, including Mombasa, Diani, Malindi and Lamu, through onward connections.

The Nairobi–Entebbe air corridor is projected to carry about 300,000 passengers in 2026, reflecting continued demand for travel between the two neighbouring countries.

Ahead of the October launch, Jambojet, in partnership with the Uganda Association of Travel Agents (TUGATA), held a stakeholder engagement breakfast at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

The meeting brought together representatives from government, travel agencies, tourism, trade, corporate organisations and the media to discuss the airline’s return and opportunities for collaboration.

TUGATA Chairperson Irene Nanyombi welcomed the resumption of flights, saying the service comes at a time when Kenya and Uganda are seeking to deepen travel, trade and tourism links.

“We are delighted to welcome Jambojet back to Uganda. The resumption of this service comes at an opportune time, as we continue to strengthen travel, trade and tourism opportunities across the region,” Nanyombi said.

She added that TUGATA would work with the airline to promote the route and encourage travel between the two markets.

Jambojet’s return to Uganda comes as the airline continues to expand its operations.

In April 2026, the airline increased its active fleet to 11 aircraft and marked the milestone of carrying its 10 millionth passenger.

It also reported an on-time performance of 86.45% in July 2026, which the airline said placed it among the leading carriers for operational punctuality in Africa and globally.

Jambojet first entered the Ugandan market in 2018 as part of its regional expansion strategy. Its regional operations were later affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting the airline to focus on strengthening its domestic network in Kenya.

The resumption of Nairobi–Entebbe flights marks a new phase in Jambojet’s regional expansion and is expected to provide travellers and businesses with another option for moving between the two East African markets.
