The Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) have stepped up patrols and intelligence-led operations to ensure a safe and secure Easter holiday.
These operations led to the arrest of 108 suspects and the recovery of exhibits.
According to SP Rachael Kawala, the KMP spokesperson, coordinated operations were carried out across the metropolitan area on the night of 1st April 2026, between 8:30 PM and 3:00 AM.
“Police conducted multiple operations in different parts of Kampala, Entebbe, Mukono, Old Kampala, Katwe, and Kira Division. Exhibits including dry marijuana leaves, rolled sticks, and fresh plant materials were recovered, among other items,” SP Kawala said.
She added that the arrests were part of efforts to maintain safety and security during the Easter festivities.
“All suspects are currently in police custody pending court proceedings. Our operations will continue to ensure a safer Easter for all residents,” SP Kawala said.
In Entebbe, operations in Kasenyi and Nakiwogo resulted in 23 arrests. Mukono saw 36 suspects arrested across Kawoola, Katoogo, Takajjunge, and Kubiri.
Old Kampala Police made 24 arrests at the New Taxi Park and Kakajo, while 14 suspects were apprehended in St. Augustine Zone, Katwe Division.
Kira Division arrested 11 people in Mulawa, Kitukutwe, and Kiwologoma in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
The police say their ongoing efforts are aimed at disrupting criminal activity and keeping the public safe during the holiday period.
