Prominent businessman King Ceasor Augustus Mulenga has officially been nominated to contest for the position of chairperson of the Entrepreneurs League under the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s Central Executive Committee.

The nomination took place at the NRM party headquarters in Kampala on Friday, presided over by Dr. Tanga Odoi, chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission.

Speaking after his nomination, Mulenga outlined his vision to improve the business environment for Ugandan entrepreneurs by championing affordable credit, expanding representation from local councils to Parliament, and advancing job creation initiatives.

“I have traversed all the sub-regions of Uganda and found that many entrepreneurs feel underrepresented and underserved. It is time to focus on delivery and results,” Mulenga said.

He pledged to address key issues such as taxation by organizing workshops to help business owners comply with tax laws and maintain proper financial records.

Among his flagship proposals is the creation of six sub-regional SACCOs, which he envisions operating as development banks to provide low-interest loans to entrepreneurs.

Mulenga emphasized a collaborative leadership approach, stating that some objectives would be achieved through his personal initiatives, others through the collective efforts of the Entrepreneurs League, and others through partnerships with government agencies.

“We, as entrepreneurs, are going to create jobs and drive Uganda’s industrialization agenda, region by region,” he added.

Mulenga, who also serves as the honorary consul of Vietnam to Uganda, is a seasoned businessman with a wide range of ventures spanning telecommunications, media, tourism, real estate, and microfinance. He is the founder and chancellor of King Ceasor University (KCU) in Kampala, which has been recognized for its focus on STEM programs.

Born in Kisoro District in 1967, Mulenga began his business career at a young age and holds a diploma in business studies and a bachelor’s degree in commerce.

His portfolio includes telecom firms such as i-tel Ltd in Uganda and Gemtel in South Sudan, as well as investments in media, game reserves, and property development. Through his Ceasor Development Kingdom initiative, he has offered scholarships, micro-loans, and livestock to communities across Uganda.

Mulenga’s vision for King Ceasor University focuses on innovation-driven education in fields such as telehealth, fintech, artificial intelligence, and pharmaceutical research. He has frequently spoken about promoting an “African renaissance” through education, economic diplomacy, and grassroots development.

Politically, Mulenga has been active since the early 1980s, initially as a mobilizer for the Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM), and has maintained strong ties with the NRM party. He believes political engagement is key to securing business-friendly reforms and mitigating risks from political instability.

With this nomination, Mulenga positions himself as a voice for entrepreneurs within the NRM’s top decision-making structures, blending business acumen with a vision for national economic transformation.
