A man accused of orchestrating multiple land fraud schemes in Kyenjojo District has been remanded as he faces fresh investigations into land grabbing.
The suspect, Vincent Mugisha, was arraigned before the Kyenjojo Chief Magistrate’s Court by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in coordination with Kyenjojo Police on charges of obtaining money by false pretenses and cheating.
He is accused of defrauding a woman, Sylvia Kababiito, of shs11 million, after allegedly pretending to sell her cattle between March and September 2025 in Kyenjojo and Kampala.
Authorities say Mugisha has been at the center of several land-related disputes in Ganyinayo Village, Kihuura Sub-county, and other parts of the district, where residents accuse him of land grabbing, trespassing, and malicious damage.
According to investigators, the latest charges stem from a broader probe into reports of fraudulent land dealings that have caused tension among affected communities.
The State House Anti-Corruption Unit confirmed that inquiries into Mugisha’s other activities are still ongoing. He remains in custody as police gather more evidence.
