Major General Felix Kulayigye has officially resumed his role as the substantive Director of Defence Public Information (DDPI) for the UPDF after a period of leave.
His return was confirmed by Col. Chris Magezi, who had been serving in an acting capacity since March.
In a brief statement shared via his official X account, Col. Magezi announced the end of his interim tenure.
“Major General Felix Kulayigye Resumes Duties. The substantive Director of Defence Public Information (DDPI) Major General Felix Kulayigye has resumed official duties after a short period away on leave. I have ceased to act accordingly. The general public and media stakeholders are hereby informed,” Col. Chris Magezi wrote.
Col. Magezi had been appointed Acting Defence Public Information Officer on March 13, 2025, by the Chief of Joint Staff UPDF, Major General Jack Bakasumba.
His appointment was on an interim basis during Maj. Gen. Kulayigye’s absence.
In addition to his temporary role as DDPI, Col. Magezi serves as the Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Maj. Gen. Kulayigye, a long-serving officer and public face of the UPDF, now reclaims the responsibility of overseeing military communication and media relations for the force.
