Police in Naggalama Division have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of murdering a 90-year-old woman in Mukono District.
The suspect, identified as Henry Onyango, a 25-year-old peasant from Magonga Village in Kiwafu Parish, Kimenyedde Sub-county, Mukono District, is being held in connection with the murder of Negesa Christine, a 90-year-old resident of the same village.
According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police PRO, the incident occurred on September 20, 2025, at around 9:00 am, when the suspect was reportedly seen leaving the deceased’s house. Relatives later found Negesa lying in a pool of blood with severe head wounds.
He explained that police immediately responded, recorded statements from first responders, and later took the suspect back to the scene for reconstruction.
“During the reconstruction, we recovered the suspected murder weapon, a panga and the suspect’s shoe which he had dropped while escaping,” he added.
The deceased’s body was conveyed to Kayunga Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
“The suspect also led our officers to a well where he confessed to washing the panga after committing the crime. Inquiries are still ongoing to establish the motive and to find out whether he acted alone or had accomplices,” Onyango said.
He assured the public that police are committed to pursuing justice for the victim.
