The Goma Grade One Magistrates Court in Mukono District has charged and remanded a man on charges of criminal trespass and malicious damage to property.
Andrew Kaye Kaggwa was charged and remanded until November 17, 2026, after appearing before the magistrate in Mukono.
Prosecution alleges that between October 7 and 9, 2026, Kaggwa unlawfully entered land located at Misindye Village in Goma Sub-county, Mukono District, with the intention of annoying Justice Andrew Khaukha, who is said to be in possession of the property.
The land is registered as Kyagwe Block 101, Plot 51.
Kaggwa is also accused of wilfully and unlawfully destroying two padlocks on a residential house belonging to Nakawungu Janat, a 99-year-old woman living on the disputed land.
According to the prosecution, the alleged damage occurred on October 8, 2026, despite warnings over the incident.
He denied the charges.
Investigations indicate that Justice Khaukha purchased five acres of land in 2004 from Janat Nakawungu and Norah Nakawunde, who had inherited six acres from their late father, Bulasio Ddamba.
The two women reportedly retained one acre containing the burial grounds of Ddamba, his wife and Nakawunde.
Nakawunde has since died, while Nakawungu, now 99 and reportedly frail, remains alive.
Investigations further indicate that some of Ddamba’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren through his son Yusuf Kaye, including Margaret Nakanyike , Andrew Kaye and Aisha Nakawunde, have over the years disputed or allegedly interfered with Khaukha’s possession of the land.
The account of the investigations states that these family members have no legal claim or interest in the property. However, the extent of any competing claims and the circumstances surrounding the dispute remain matters requiring verification.
The same account alleges that complaints and accusations against Khaukha have repeatedly been made to various offices, alongside statements about him published on social media.
