President Museveni has donated 200 iron sheets to traders at Katwe Market to support reconstruction efforts following a devastating fire that destroyed property worth millions of shillings.
The donation was delivered on Monday by the President’s newly appointed advisor on Buganda affairs, Joseph Mukasa Ssewava, at the market premises.
The fire, which broke out on March 16, 2026, at Kabaka’s Katwe Market, left several traders counting losses after their goods were reduced to ashes.
In a show of solidarity, the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, last week visited the affected traders and toured the most damaged sections of the market.
Traders have welcomed the President’s contribution, saying it will help them begin rebuilding their stalls and restoring their businesses.
