The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) has acquired four state-of-the-art card printing machines, each with the capacity to produce up to 3,000 national IDs per hour.

This technological boost is set to enhance efficiency and significantly reduce processing times for national identification cards.

“This latest shipment aligns with NIRA’s ongoing preparations for the upcoming National ID mass enrollment and mass renewal exercise to be rolled out at parish level,” the statement from NIRA reads.

NIRA adds that this initiative aims to streamline registration and ensure timely service delivery to Ugandans.

Additionally, NIRA noted that the recent delivery of more than 5,000 registration kits has played a crucial role in training client-facing staff, including Registration Assistants and Registration Officers.

“The training process has been comprehensive, ensuring that staff are well-equipped to handle the mass registration exercise. And as part of NIRA’s continuous commitment to sieve and retain the most dependable personnel, trainees were subjected to exit tests to assess their readiness move that is expected to inform deployment strategies for optimal service delivery,”NIRA said in a statement on Tuesday.

With the shipment of technological equipment, NIRA has reaffirmed its commitment to streamlining the National ID registration process.

“Given the apparent technological advancements, NIRA is poised to streamline the national ID registration and issuance process, reinforcing its dedication to providing timely and reliable identification services to all Ugandans. And its no longer doubtful that the embers of interminability have been diminished by the vivid progress towards the launch of the exercise.”
