Rwenzururu Kingdom has dismissed reports circulating on social media claiming that Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is critically ill.
In an official clarification, the kingdom said the Omusinga travelled to Türkiye for a routine medical review following advice from his doctors.
“We wish to clarify that HM Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is not critically ill, contrary to reports circulating on social media,” the statement reads.
The kingdom said the Omusinga’s trip was strictly for a routine medical check-up and assured the public that reports of his critical illness were unfounded.
“He travelled to Türkiye for a routine medical review, as advised by his doctors,” the statement added.
The clarification comes amid growing concern among his subjects and members of the public following reports about the health of the Rwenzururu cultural leader.
The kingdom thanked the public for the support, prayers and concern shown towards the Omusinga, his family and the institution of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone for the love, prayers, concern, and well-wishes extended to His Majesty, the Royal Family and Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu,” the statement said.
The kingdom called for continued support for the Omusinga and the royal family, while reiterating that reports claiming he is critically ill are unfounded.
“Thank you for your continued love and support.”
