Senior Pastor at Rubaga Miracle Centre, Robert Kayanja, has condemned the recent raid on the home of National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, during which his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi was reportedly assaulted.

Speaking to the media, Pastor Kayanja described the incident as disturbing and unacceptable.

“The whole world saw what happened at the home of Hon. Kyagulanyi, especially to his wife. We strongly condemn such actions,” Kayanja said.

He, however, emphasized that the actions should not be blamed on the entire Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), noting that the army is widely known for its discipline and professionalism.

“Our army is known for its discipline wherever it operates. These are the actions of a few individuals who want to tarnish the image of the UPDF. What was done, especially to a woman who is also a mother, is totally unacceptable. When you undress her, you undress the entire country, yet you are mandated to protect citizens,” he stated.

Pastor Kayanja said such acts are inhumane and reminded Ugandans of the dark days of past regimes.

“We saw such things during the Obote II and Idi Amin regimes. These are not good actions. Today we have many good officers, and those who did this should be held individually responsible. We should not blame the entire army,” he added.

He further called upon those behind the incident to apologize to Ugandans.

“I urge whoever was responsible for what happened to Kyagulanyi’s wife to apologize, so that the country can move forward in peace and harmony,” Kayanja said.

Kyagulanyi’s home was raided on the night of 24 January by individuals believed to be from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). During the operation, Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi, Bobi Wine’s wife, was reportedly harassed, household property was damaged, and several personal gadgets—including phones and laptops—were confiscated.

While receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital, Barbie said the security personnel forcefully entered their home and subjected her to abuse.

Although some people initially dismissed the incident as a staged event, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, later confirmed on his X (formerly Twitter) account that the raid had taken place.

He also acknowledged that Barbie had been arrested and later released, and went on to share a photo of her on the floor—a move that sparked widespread public outrage online.
