Police have confirmed that a journalist who went missing on Sunday after a talk show at Metro FM along Martin Road is in their custody.
Arnold Mukose, a 41-year-old journalist with DigiTalk, reportedly disappeared around 1:00 pm on Sunday when men in plainclothes pushed him into a vehicle.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala confirmed the arrest.
“The Uganda Police Force would like to confirm the arrest of Mukose Arnold Anthony, a 41-year-old male working with DigiTalk Media,” Kawala said.
She noted that investigations are ongoing and Mukose will be aligned before court.
“He is currently in police custody and will be arraigned before court in due course. Investigations are still underway. More updates will be availed in due course,”she added.
The arrest has drawn criticism from the journalism fraternity, the Uganda Law Society, and political leaders, who have condemned the manner of Mukose’s detention and are demanding justice.
