RUBiS Energy Uganda has announced the appointment of William Fillet as its new Managing Director, a move expected to drive the company’s growth and strengthen its position in Uganda’s competitive energy sector.
Fillet, who succeeds Olivier Gatera, brings over two decades of experience in the energy industry. He is tasked with expanding RUBiS Uganda’s footprint, ensuring sustainable business growth, and rolling out customer-focused innovations.
In his first remarks, Fillet pledged to build on the company’s recent successes while prioritizing sustainability and innovation.
“My commitment is to deepen innovation and sustainability within our businesses and the communities we serve. We will continue to advance clean energy solutions with products such as RUBiS ULTRA TEC, RUBiS Gas, and Castrol lubricants, while investing in our people and strengthening community engagement,” he said.
Outgoing Managing Director Gatera reflected on his achievements during his tenure, noting the expansion of RUBiS Uganda’s network to more than 70 service stations, including 26 Enjoy convenience stores, and the rollout of digital platforms such as the Rubis App.
RUBiS Energies CEO for East Africa, Olivier Sabrié, praised Gatera for his leadership and expressed confidence in Fillet’s ability to steer the company into its next phase.
“Olivier Gatera leaves behind a strong legacy, and we are excited to welcome William Fillet, whose experience and vision will advance RUBiS Energy Uganda’s innovation and sustainable growth agenda,” he said.
RUBiS entered Uganda in 2019 after acquiring Kobil and Delta Petroleum. Since then, the French multinational has rebranded its stations, modernized infrastructure, and expanded its product offerings, positioning itself as a major player in the country’s energy industry.
