Ugandan musician Daudi Mugema has been found dead under unclear circumstances at a hotel in Gulu.
According to unconfirmed reports, Mugema had traveled to Gulu to meet General Salim Saleh, a senior figure in Uganda’s military and political circles, who in recent years has become a key supporter and source of hope for many musicians.
However, his lifeless body was discovered in his hotel room, sparking shock and sorrow among fans and fellow musicians.
Mugema was best known for his emotionally charged gospel song “Katonda Wabanaku Teyebaka” (“God Never Sleeps on the Poor”), which resonated with many for its message of hope and resilience.
Over the years, he built a loyal following, admired not just for his music but for his outspoken views on social justice.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of his death. Tributes continue to pour in across social media, with fans mourning the loss of a voice they say stood for the voiceless.
